Cliff Staton, VP Marketing (Renewable Funding):
Cliff Staton has channeled his interests in environmental, education and social justice issues to become one of California’s leading political and media relations strategists – crafting winning campaigns and messages for hundreds of candidates, non-profit organizations, government agencies and labor unions.
Prior to joining Renewable Funding, Cliff was for 20 years a partner in the political strategy consulting firm of Staton & Hughes. He helped elect eight members of Congress, numerous members of the state legislature, and California's first woman state Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Staton was Editorial Director and Vice President of The Kamber Group, then Washington DC’s largest independent public relations firm.
Staton received his Master’s degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs and earned his B.A. in Germanic Languages from Indiana University. Cliff lives in San Francisco with his wife Elizabeth Ozer and their three children. He serves on the board of Leadership High School, a public charter school in San Francisco.
Gary Kremen, Chairman & Founder (Clean Power Finance):
As an entrepreneur, inventor, executive and investor, Gary Kremen has over twenty-five years experience with emerging growth companies and developing information technology. He is a founder of several companies including Match.Com and his latest endeavor Clean Power Finance. Kremen is a well-known angel investor in clean tech in such companies as Greenbox (acquired by Silver Springs Network), EnMetric, People Power Co, Sustainable Spaces (now Recurve), SunLink, etc.. His winning battle over the ownership of Sex.Com is the subject of a BBC documentary and a book by Kieren McCarthy. Mark Goldman, CEO (Armageddon Energy):
Mark Goldman is the
CEO of Armageddon Energy, a Silicon Valley startup that develops solar energy
systems for consumers and won the Renewable Energy category of the 2009
Cleantech Open.
Prior to Armageddon, Mark helped launch sales and marketing at Tioga Energy, a
solar finance provider. He also founded EtherSea Communications and PITO
Networks, software companies that provided wireless and Internet communications
services to consumers and businesses.
Mark began his career in the White House, where he focused on energy and
security issues. He also served as a political appointee at the US
Environmental Protection Agency and has consulted on strategic, financial and
growth issues for wildlife, health care and education non-profits in the San
Francisco Bay Area. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the
Stanford Business School.
Eric Wesoff, Analyst at Large, Author of the Venture Power Report (Greentech Media):
Eric Wesoff is a senior analyst at Greentech Media where he covers the financing and technology of renewable energy and cleantech markets. His clients and networks include the leading investors and public and private companies in renewable energy. Prior to joining Greentech Media, Eric Wesoff founded Sage Marketing Partners in 2000 to provide sales and marketing-consulting services to venture-capital firms and their portfolio companies in the alternative energy and telecommunications sectors. Mr. Wesoff has become a well-known, respected authority and speaker in these fields. He also was the publisher of the Venture Power newsletter, a subscription-only newsletter covering venture-capital investment in renewable energy. Eric's expertise covers solar power, fuel cells, biofuels and advanced batteries. His strengths are in market research and analysis, business development and due diligence for investors. He frequently consults for energy startups and Silicon Valley's premier venture capitalists. From 1988 to 1996, Eric served as product marketing manager for Siemens Optoelectronics, where he oversaw complex product lines and managed relationships with global customers. He then became the U.S. marketing and sales manager for Akzo Nobel Photonics, which was acquired by JDS Uniphase. Eric later served as the sales director for Dicon Fiber Optics, where he was responsible for selling millions of dollars of fiber-optic telecom-equipment.
